in actual fact the legal framework is such that you can’t change the article 50 notice without a new act of Parliament.
In any case the EU is not keen on the UK remaining in the EU after the 29th of March deadline because they will have to be engaged in the EU parliamentary election and they’re terrified that we would return a whole sway of Eurosceptic.
2'18/09/16: For the past seven decades, GDP growth has stood as the primary economic objective of European nations. But as our economies have grown, so has our negative impact on the environment. We are now exceeding the safe operating space for humanity on this planet, and there is no sign that economic activity is being decoupled from resource use or pollution at anything like the scale required. Today, solving social problems within European nations does not require more growth. It requires a fairer distribution of the income and wealth that we already have.
Growth is also becoming harder to achieve due to declining productivity gains, market saturation, and ecological degradation. If current trends continue, there may be no growth at all in Europe within a decade. Right now the response is to try to fuel growth by issuing more debt, shredding environmental regulations, extending working hours, and cutting social protections. This aggressive pursuit of growth at all costs divides society, creates economic instability, and undermines democracy.
2018/09/16: While on the EU27 side, the expected process and outcome of this first phase of negotiations is clear, politics in the UK is in turmoil and the domestic debate is moving further and further away from a realistic assessment of what the EU is likely to accept. In particular, there are a number of myths or misconceptions that will be debunked in the coming months:
2015/12/02: circular economy will boost the EU's competitiveness by protecting businesses against scarcity of resources and volatile prices, helping to create new business opportunities and innovative, more efficient ways of producing and consuming.
It will create local jobs at all skills levels and opportunities for social integration and cohesion. At the same time, it will save energy and help avoid the irreversible damages caused by using up resources at a rate that exceeds the Earth's capacity to renew them in terms of climate and biodiversity, air, soil and water pollution.
Action on the circular economy therefore ties in closely with key EU priorities
2010/01/27: On this occasion, the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) once again highlights the increasing relevance of privacy and data protection. Respect for private life and protection of personal data have been recognised as separate fundamental rights in the EU Charter of fundamental rights, which became binding with the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty. The protection of personal data was also enhanced by the Treaty in other ways. In the EDPS' view, this was a historic step in which a legal development of the last decades in Europe was confirmed. However, while data protection as a fundamental right is increasingly relevant, it is also a key challenge to ensure an effective protection of personal data in practice.
The art is to make it look as though it's not collapsing, but instead to have a reasonable-looking set of reasons to delay any progress and to spend that time watering down what Brexit means.
So Brexit it is. As we move forward in trying to figure out what Britain will look like under this new reality, I want to share a few thoughts with my many friends who supported the Leave campaign

2014/03/21: Britain is in a state of self denial, sitting at the bottom of European league tables, but convinced it still rules the waves. The aspirations of the SNP may seem ambitious, but all they are really proposing is to be a normal European country.

RIOTS, petrol bombs, tear gas and strikes greeted the Greek's government's latest attempt to persuade its citizens of the merits of reducing the country's budget deficit.
The US dollar is highly important in today's economy for three main reasons: the huge amount of petrodollars, the use of the dollar as the world's reserve currency, and the decision taken by US President Nixon in 1971 to end the dollar convertibility into gold.
As a lifelong eurosceptic, David Davis should have treasured his role as Brexit secretary. Instead he flunked it with his ignorance of the EU, the UK and Brexit.
Next week, the European Parliament will hold an important vote on the Copyright Directive. It will decide whether or not it needs to be amended significantly, or can be sent straight to the final negotiations, the so-called "trilogues", where only minor changes are likely. The stakes are high. The copyright industry is close to succeeding in its efforts to muzzle its hated enemy, the open Internet. If Article 13 is adopted in its present form, it would change online life in the EU dramatically, and not for the better.
Browser fingerprinting is on a collision course with privacy regulations. For almost a decade, EFF has been raising awareness about this tracking technique with projects like Panopticlick. Compared to more well-known tracking "cookies," browser fingerprinting is trickier for users and browser...
The pending update to the EU Copyright Directive is coming up for a committee vote on June 20 or 21 and a parliamentary vote either in early July or late September. While the directive fixes some longstanding problems with EU rules, it creates much, much larger ones: problems so big that they...
